Work of this class employs techniques and practices proven over millennia, in conjunction with modern adhesives and tools. It is hoped and intended that some of these projects will remain long after my time to attest to the survival of the craft. Only in the case of a commercial project would the use of plywood, etc. be considered, with a different approach to the work.
Custom designed "sleigh" bunk beds
We built three sets of these from cypress salvaged from an early Texas house. The ladders are srored conveniently on the foot until needed.
Here is a pair of custom desks for a man and wife business team.
The masculine one is of European beech and is taller than normal, Karl is a big fellow.
The companion one for Linda is cherry;
pictures don't do justice.
Quilted pine custom wood bed
We have several of these beds out there, although the quilted pine is a rare find.
Coffee tables with popcorn shelf
only the hardest and most resinous pine is selected for the tops.
There are about 100 mortice and tenon joints in one of these.
I have been pleased with this leg form, both in low and high tables.
